After four weeks of intermittent limping and a few weeks of on-leash only walks, Spike was sound enough to go the the Puyallup trials this weekend.
We need 2 more UDX legs to complete his Utility Dog Excellent obedience title. On Saturday Spike passed everything in Utility except he missed the signal to "come". The judge told me later that beside the large number of people behind me (in Spike's view) a person with 2 Wolf hounds walked passed which may have distracted him. I decided to go home early rather than stay for Open thinking the rest at home would only help his performance on Sunday.
Sunday - Again, Spike completed all the exercises in Utility correctly except the very last thing. Signals again. This time he ". Now we know what to focus out training on for the next few weeks before the next trial. In Open he didn't do his drop. All else was good!
